Why

Over the past 6 months we have been studying what it really means to live a sold out life for God. During the course of this time we started praying that God would show us different ways we can impact others for Him. We started at home by reaching out to our families and friends around us. We then felt even more challenged to spread out to starting bible studies with other girls who didn’t normally come and by participating in other various service projects to reach those who don’t know Christ. Over these six months one of the issues that God brought to our attention was that of orphans. We realized that orphans were one of the groups of people that God continually mentioned over and over for us to help. We decided that we wanted to follow what we felt God had laid on our hearts and pursue a way to go on a short term trip to help orphans. Little did we know that during this same time God was also preparing two orphanages in the Dominican Republic that had a great need. We spoke to a director at Score International and before we could even finish telling our desire to work specifically with orphans, he beat us to the punch. He told us that he had just had a meeting with two orphanages that really needed some help just loving the children would we be interested. After much prayer and discussion we really feel that this was an answer to our asking God to direct us. The date that worked for all of the girls in the class (due to the different college schedules) is November 24 -28. After even more prayer we are convinced that God wants us to do this and that He wants to use this trip for His glory. This trip has been in the works in our prayers as a class for six months now and we all have a peace that God wants us to do this and is going to provide.
